# Raagulan Pathy on ‘Crypto in America’: KAST Keeps on Shipping

Our Founder and CEO Raagulan Pathy sat down with Crypto in America’s hosts Eleanor Terrett, Jacquelyn Melinek, and Gerald Gallagher at Korea Blockchain Week. They discussed the dollar’s role in global finance, how stablecoins have defied bear markets, and why people and businesses today need a platform that works across borders.

## Why Should America Lead in Crypto?

The hosts began the interview by asking Raagulan what “Crypto in America” means to him. He said that America is the largest economy in the world, has the most important stock market, dominates global banking, and the world depends on U.S. dollars. America has to lead on crypto because it’s the biggest player.

>
“The dollar is America’s single greatest product of all time,” he said. “America should a hundred percent lean into it.”

Making dollars easy to move around the world is a no brainer, he added, and stablecoins are the key.

And tokenization builds on crypto and stablecoins. Tokenization is a way to provide people outside the U.S. access to U.S. capital markets. He said that the more America can promote tokenization through stablecoins and stocks, the better it is for for the American economy, which has ripple effect around the world.

## Why Did Raagulan Found KAST?

Raagulan explained that he had been the CEO for the Asian entity at Circle for two-and-a-half years. In 2023, he saw that despite the crypto bear market, stablecoins weren’t shrinking. People were using them for things beyond crypto trading.

Given that stablecoins are a digitization of dollars and the world runs on dollars, what would be the most valuable thing to build on that?

The answer for Raagulan was a whole new financial services stack, a global neobank built on the existing, incredible crypto and stablecoin rails. That was the wedge that he saw. So he decided to found KAST. The card was just a starting point. So, how do you move from there to the neobank stage, Gerald asked?

> “Keep shipping product,” Raagulan said.

## What Is KAST’s Biggest Opportunity in the U.S.?

Raagulan said he sees a big opportunity in the U.S. with KAST Business. Increasingly, solopreneurs, creators and others are building small businesses, and these businesses are global. They need to hire and service people all over the world. To do so, they require a business account to serve customers across multiple countries. That’s where KAST Business comes in.

For consumer users of KAST, it’s easy. In the KAST App, eligible users can switch from personal mode to business mode, subject to business verification and jurisdictional availability.

## What Does the Future Holds for KAST

We’re on a path to acquire more licenses globally, Raagulan said. Our ambition is to pursue the relevant U.S. state money transmitter licenses, subject to a regulatory approval. And we’re not going to stop shipping products, from accounts in additional additional currencies to other features and products (subject to applicable regulatory requirements and market availability). We’ll keep on shipping!
