A slick new design for KAST and your stablecoin spending

It feels like a long time since we formally introduced KAST at Solana Breakpoint in September 2024. So much has changed in crypto over the last six months, and yet our fundamental goal remains the same: to enable a world-class, bank-like experience for millions of users around the world using stablecoins.

That’s why today we are introducing a whole new design for the KAST app on iOS and Android.

The colors and design match up to our values for users: simplicity and security. It’s slicker, faster and more consistent—but with the same mission to help our users spend beyond borders with a network that spans more than 140 million merchants.

Today, it’s easier than ever to sign up for a digital KAST card powered by Visa for Apple Pay or Google Pay. 

Our app will intuitively show your balance, allow you to make deposits, transfer funds to others and get a physical card.

We are working tirelessly to make KAST the perfect stablecoin experience and we can’t wait for the many updates that are coming in the coming months and the rest of this year!!

Here’s how to update your KAST app:

Please note that the new version of the app may not be immediately available to you as we are introducing it in phases to ensure you can keep using our service without disruption.

This is a major update for us. To mark it, we dug into the details with PO2 Studio, the software and design studio which led this redesign.

1. How has the KAST app been redesigned?

The KAST app has been completely redesigned with a focus on design, usability, and performance. The new look comes from redesigning over 900 screens, 300 components, and giving the design system a facelift with new text styles, colors and icons. 

One of the key changes is the merging of the home and transaction screens. You can now swipe between your balance and recent activity without friction. Navigation has also been improved with simplified icons, shorter labels, and a decluttered layout. Typography was upgraded across the board, using larger, more legible fonts for better readability.

The overall look and feel is more refined, with cleaner visuals and subtle motion—like animated card reveals and sleek new brand colors—to make the app feel more polished and cohesive. 

The new card selection flow has also been made over. Instead of a static list, you can now swipe through all the cards that KAST offers in a beautifully designed, interactive carousel that highlights both physical and virtual options. 

2. What prompted the change?

The previous version of the app had fallen behind as KAST added more features and options. 

Rather than making piecemeal changes, the team chose to rebuild the product experience from the ground up. This is not just a cosmetic update—it’s a structural redesign aimed at making KAST more intuitive, efficient, and enjoyable to use every day.

Behind the scenes, the designs have been fully componentized, which improves consistency. Importantly that also gives space for a host of new updates and features that will come to the KAST app soon to really enhance the user experience.

3. What kind of user experience does the new KAST app aim to deliver?

The new KAST app is designed to feel premium, fast, and easy to use. It goes beyond functionality by focusing on how to make it as seamless as possible to spend or save your crypto and stablecoins on a day-to-day basis.

KAST is more than just payments, so core actions like sending or receiving money have been simplified with improved layouts, clearer steps, and improved input handling. A unified transaction filter screen replaces the old multi-step flow, allowing users to find what they need more efficiently.

Every touchpoint has been rethought to reduce friction and increase clarity. The result is an app that’s easier to navigate, more visually aligned with modern standards, and more rewarding to use. We hope you agree!
