Meet KAST CLO: Clement Berger

Clément Berger treats leadership as responsibility, so he takes the first pass at the hard work and then pulls the team into a shared plan. As a result, he stays close to risk while still building systems that scale.

He leads through feedback and adjusts fast when the team brings a better answer. That approach matters in legal and compliance, because one wrong “yes” creates risk while one wrong “no” slows execution.

"Leadership is mutual growth in motion.”

At KAST, he sits between speed and safety. He sets the guardrails, reviews product and communications, and builds the legal and compliance structure that lets the company ship without avoidable regulatory exposure.

A Foundation of Global Academic Excellence

Clément Berger, Chief Legal and Compliance Officer at KAST, built his path around one goal: international mastery. His journey from the outskirts of Paris to Asia’s crypto hubs reflects strategic adaptability and long term intent.

He began his legal studies in France, inside a competitive academic environment. That phase built a strict legal base and discipline.

He then moved to Switzerland and studied at a top tier university. The setting sharpened his analytical work inside one of the world’s most structured financial systems.

After that, he completed his master’s degree in Singapore. The move placed him inside Asia’s financial gateway and exposed him to fast moving cross border markets. This stage shaped how he approaches regulation across regions.

Real World Heavy Industry in Bangkok

Before crypto, Clément worked in Bangkok inside a group tied to global trade and large scale infrastructure. The work touched nuclear power plants, stadiums, and major construction supply chains linked to Dubai, including Burj Khalifa related operations.

Within one year, he became Head of Legal. He handled legal risk across manufacturing, construction related products, freight forwarding, and international trading flows.

This phase gave him direct exposure to how value moves physically across borders. Contracts, logistics, and regulatory approvals defined what could move and when. That ground truth still shapes how he designs compliance in crypto.

The Crypto Pivot in Taipei and the Birth of KAST

In 2021, Clément relocated to Taipei and moved into digital assets. He joined a digital asset custody startup during its growth phase and helped support a USD 7 million raise. He brought structured legal and compliance thinking into a fast moving startup environment.

That experience showed him how fragile crypto infrastructure becomes when governance lags product speed. The startup later collapsed. The lesson stayed.

The turning point came when he joined KAST one month after incorporation.

Clément is not just a lawyer. He is a builder. He joined when KAST was still an idea and built its legal and compliance framework as it scaled into a working platform.

“I didn’t join KAST to maintain a system. I joined to build the regulatory bridge that allows stablecoins to replace legacy banking.”

The All In Bet on KAST

For Clément, joining KAST was not a lateral move. It was a conviction bet on a founder’s vision and a disruptive idea.

The 90 Day Vision

When he joined, KAST was one month old. The runway was three months. For most legal professionals, that level of volatility is a deal breaker. For Clément, it was the test.

He did not join for security. He joined because he saw a path to building infrastructure from zero.

“I joined KAST when there was nothing.”
“We had a runway of three months when I joined the company.”
From Department of One to Global Legal and Compliance Engine

In the early days, Clément was the entire legal and compliance function. He built the licensing paths, partner contracts, product review flows, and communication checks that allowed KAST to move from concept to live product.

As KAST scaled, his role shifted from hands on execution to strategic leadership. He built systems that let compliance move with product speed instead of slowing it down.

“I started when there was only a vision on paper and one person. Now there is a product, a team, and money.”

Outside KAST

Outside work, Clément trains boxing, grappling, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and Muay Thai. He walks, travels, and spends time with family. The routine balances pressure with physical release.

That discipline mirrors how he works. Structure inside the system. Simplicity outside it.

Direction Without Noise

When asked where KAST is going, his answer stays short.

“I see KAST as the future company that will lead this space.”

There is no hype in how he frames it. There is only direction.
