Meet KAST CTO: Sameera Nilupul

Sameera Nilupul doesn’t talk about himself like a big deal.

Ask him who he is and he answers simply. He’s Sameera. He’s the CTO of KAST.

That calm, no-frills energy shows up in everything he does: how he builds, how he leads, and how he thinks about where money is headed next.

His work isn’t flashy. It sits quietly in the background until you realize it’s holding everything up. In 18 months, Sameera helped build the technical backbone of a global finance platform that can move money at scale worldwide.

The speed stands out, but it isn’t the point.

What matters is what it unlocks.

And his path into this role didn’t start in a major tech hub.

It started far from one.

From a Remote Beginning to a Technical Path

Sameera grew up in Sri Lanka, in a remote area outside the capital. Access was limited, and so was exposure to global technology. Still, curiosity found a way forward.

He chose computer science early and stuck with it.

After graduating, he joined a Japanese technology company where structure and discipline shaped the work. Systems had to run reliably. Decisions had to hold up under pressure. Nobody built around “we’ll fix it later.”

Later, he returned to Sri Lanka and ran several IT-related companies. That period taught him what building looks like outside a textbook, when teams stay lean, resources stay tight, and delivery matters more than perfect slides.

Joining KAST Before It Was Obvious

In 2024, Sameera met Raagulan Pathy in Singapore. At the time, Sameera was focused on B2B infrastructure, building wallet systems for businesses.

Then the conversation shifted.

Raagulan pushed for a move into B2C. He argued that B2B could be lucrative, but it moved slower, scaled harder, and delayed real impact.

Sameera listened, trusted the call, and committed.

He joined KAST before the app launched, when nothing was guaranteed. From day one, his job centered on one question.

Could this system survive the real world?

Within 18 months, KAST delivered a full-scale global platform capable of processing millions of dollars and millions of transactions. Sameera stays understated when he talks about it, but one line captures the moment.

“We built a full-scale global financial platform in 18 months. That’s what I’m proud of.”

Not because it sounds impressive.

Because it worked.

Stable. Usable. Scalable. Built under pressure, without breaking.

How Sameera Thinks About Leadership

Sameera doesn’t frame leadership as hierarchy. He frames it as people.

His strongest skill, in his own words, is choosing who to trust.

“I’m good at picking good people who can work for me.”

He believes in underdogs, the people who don’t fit the standard mold but show up with discipline and drive once they get real responsibility.

“If you find the right people and motivate them, they would do anything.”

That belief shapes how KAST’s technical teams operate. It also explains how the company has moved fast without losing control. Sameera builds alignment first, then process.

Outside of KAST, he keeps life simple. He starts early, goes to the gym, works, and rests. He stays grounded through family time, badminton, and travel around Sri Lanka.

He describes it plainly.

“It’s like working from paradise.”

A Clear View on the Future of Money

Sameera doesn’t think the future of finance is complicated.

He thinks it’s late.

Money still struggles to move the way people live today, especially across borders. Even the biggest platforms rely on old payment rails that add friction, delays, and fees that don’t need to exist.

He explains it with a simple comparison.

“Facebook made the world smaller by allowing thoughts to travel freely. We’re doing the same for money, turning global value transfer into something instant, simple, and borderless.”

For Sameera, digital currency matters only when it removes friction entirely: instant settlement, zero fees, and no geographic limits. In his view, KAST has one task-build the layer that makes global money movement feel natural for people, businesses, and institutions.

“You can be anywhere, earn anywhere, go anywhere, and spend anywhere.”

That vision drives KAST’s roadmap, including earn products and borrowing against digital assets, built carefully and designed to scale.

Discipline, Drive, and a Simple Code

Sameera is the only person in his family working in technology. That independence shaped him early, and he doesn’t overcomplicate motivation.

When asked about the code he lives by, he answers instantly.

“Do or die trying.”

That’s how he works: quiet focus, long hours, consistent execution.

And it’s the same energy you can see in KAST’s progress so far: steady, global, and built to last.

Sameera Nilupul doesn’t chase attention.

He builds the systems that carry it.
